Meet Our Founder
Cristina Leal de Salvatierra
Learning Specialist at Columbia University
Cristina is an accomplished Learning Specialist with a rich career spanning nearly two decades, primarily at The School at Columbia University in New York City. Her educational foundation was laid at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities.
As a Learning Specialist at The School at Columbia University she excelled in creating individualized educational plans and assessments for children with learning disabilities, while collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and The Child Study Team. She pioneered in promoting effective classroom differentiation, contributing to curriculum adaptation, and maintaining detailed student records in coordination with New York’s Board of Education.

Currently, as the Founder and CEO of Bridges, Teaching & Learning Consulting, she champions the belief that strong partnerships between schools and families are crucial for students' academic success. The organization's mission centers on harmonizing a child's unique learning preferences with the challenges of a rigorous educational system. By collaborating closely with students, parents, and schools, Bridges develops tailored learning plans that leverage each child's strengths, ensuring their fullest potential is realized in the classroom.
Our Team Members

Deborah Kantrowitz
Deborah is currently a third grade teacher at The School at Columbia University. She earned a Masters of Special Education from the University of Hartford, a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Plymouth State University, and is currently working toward a Masters in Psychology of Education with a concentration in Spirituality, Mind and Body at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Deborah has 30 years experience as a classroom teacher, a learning specialist, and a project based learning teacher, in public, charter, and independent schools. Deborah has also led professional development for teachers, school psychologists, and summer camp staff.

Judith Dien
Judith Dien is an experienced Occupational Therapist based in New York City. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked extensively with children in early intervention, as well as in kindergarten through middle school settings in both private and public educational environments.
Currently employed at The School at Columbia University, Judith's range of services includes serving as a member of the Child Support Team, conducting OT kindergarten admissions screenings, and providing OT services aimed at minimizing barriers to academic success through the use of multi-sensory and tiered therapeutic strategies.

Dely Gustavino
Dely Guastavino holds a B.S. in Physical Education and Health Education, an M.A. in Curriculum and Teaching in Physical Education, and an M.Ed. in Applied Physiology. She is certified in rock climbing, college advising, and cultural competency training, and is currently pursuing additional certifications as a Brain Health Trainer, Yoga instructor, and TESOL educator. With 16 years of experience as a Wellness Teacher at The School at Columbia University, Dely is now a dedicated high school teacher in a public school setting.
Her passion lies in exploring the effects of exercise on the brain and student learning. Dely integrates mindfulness and brain gym practices into her physical education classes and advisory program, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing student well-being.

Anacarla Schelino
Anacarla Schelino, Literacy Specialist with an EdM from Bank Street Graduate School of Education, has worked at The School at Columbia University since 2005 where she has created, published articles, and presented on concept based curriculum integrating literacy, literacy intervention strategies and differentiation.
Presenting at various conferences and schools throughout her career including ILA, Teach21, and Bank Street School for Children. She currently teaches students in grades 6 - 8 with language based learning disabilities and executive functioning challenges and supports teachers with scaffolding and modifying assignments.

Shamie Cuthbert
I have been an educator for over fifteen years. Before obtaining my Master’s from Bank Street College of Education in 2013, I tutored privately, worked for America Reads, ran several creative writing workshops throughout New York City, and founded a preschool cooperative in Washington Heights. From 2012-2015, I worked at Fieldston Lower School as an Associate Teacher in both first and second grade. In 2015, I started my own creative writing program called WriteUP, where I brought weekly classes to various NYC school, such as: Muscota New School, Amistad Dual Language School and Fieldston Middle School. During that school year, I was a 6/7’s head teacher at Corlears School. In 2016, I accepted a position at City School of Arts, an arts-based charter school, as the founding ICT teacher. Since 2019, I have been teaching at The School at Columbia University where I have taught second, third, and fourth grade.

Georgette de Jesus, MD
Dr. De Jesús became interested in the practice of integrative medicine early in her training at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in her hometown of San Juan. She completing general training in Psychiatry at Duke University, followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New York University.
Dr. De Jesús sees children and adults for mental health care, providing services in English and Spanish. South Florida Integrative Medicine is a group mental health practice, located in Coral Gables, Florida. Its psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, therapists, and coaches work together to deliver personalized, holistic treatment plans to their patients.

Adolfo Rosales
Adolfo Rosales is a compassionate and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) born, raised, and based in the city of Miami, Florida. With a commitment to helping males achieve mental wellness and personal growth, Adolfo provides comprehensive counseling services tailored to his clients' unique needs.
Adolfo earned his Master's degree in Psychology from Florida International University and has since accumulated a wealth of experience working with diverse populations in various clinical settings. Specializing in ADHD, executive functioning issues, parenting skills, behavioral issues and stress management, Adolfo is dedicated to empowering his clients and their families to overcome obstacles and live fulfilling lives.

Elsa Hines
As a licensed therapist, Elsa brings a unique blend of analysis, logic, and communication expertise, helping individuals enhance their personal and professional relationships.
She is an active member of the Florida Family Research Network, specializing in Bowen Natural Systems Theory, where she contributes as its youngest member. Bilingual in Spanish and English, Elsa is highly sought after for her interactive and engaging conferences, where she adapts therapeutic concepts into relatable scenarios and practical exercises for diverse audiences—from schools to large corporations.

Crystal Doyle
Since embarking on her journey in Early Childhood Development in 1994, Crystal C. Doyle has
been a driving force in shaping high-quality educational environments for children across a
spectrum of exceptionalities. Her extensive career includes roles ranging from a Teacher’s
Assistant in New York State’s BOCES program to Lead Teacher, Program Director, and
Assistant Director in both Montessori and traditional educational settings.
Crystal’s career is defined by her commitment to creating dynamic and inclusive learning
environments that cater to the cognitive needs of all students. This dedication has led her to
adopt a data-driven, research-based approach to education, aiming to develop multifaceted
strategies that support both typical and atypical learners.

Bonnie Greenwald
With over two decades of dedicated service in education, Bonnie Greenwald is a seasoned Student Support Coordinator and Learning Specialist known for her expertise in fostering academic success and supporting diverse learning needs. Currently serving at Manhattan Country School since 2017, Bonnie works closely with students, educators, and parents to ensure inclusive educational practices and effective interventions.
In her role as Student Support Coordinator, Bonnie collaborates with teachers to adapt curricula, ensuring accessibility for all learners. She spearheads initiatives to monitor and address the learning needs of the student body, providing crucial resources and support for teachers.
